FAQs
Who is this app for?
O.W.L.S. is for anyone navigating addiction recovery or mental health struggles—whether you're newly sober, years into healing, managing anxiety, depression, or just needing support between therapy sessions or check-ins. It's for anyone who needs support to get on with life.
Is O.W.L.S. a replacement for therapy or treatment?
No. O.W.L.S. is a support tool, not a substitute for professional treatment. It works best alongside your existing recovery plan, therapy, or group support.
Is my data private and secure?
Yes. We take your privacy seriously. Your mood logs, journal entries, and personal information are encrypted and never shared without your permission.
What is a “nest”?
Your “nest” is your personal circle of trusted supporters—friends, family, mentors—who you will check in with daily and be notified if you use the SOS feature.
How do daily check-ins work?
Your nest members will receive notifications of your check ins (mood, feelings wheel, etc.) up to 3 times a day. These quick messages help keep you accountable and supported.
Can I use the app anonymously?
You’ll need to create a profile to use core features like the SOS button and nest check-ins, but we do not require public-facing info, and all data stays private.
What happens when I press the SOS button?
The app immediately sends an alert and your current GPS location to everyone in your nest, so they know you need help—no talking or texting needed.
Why O.W.L.S.?
While in treatment for the first time, Jonathan often noticed the owls perched quietly in the trees above the facility. To him, they felt like silent companions—watchful, grounding, and somehow protective. During his second stay in treatment, a close friend gifted him a small owl figurine—completely unaware of his personal connection to the bird. That moment sparked something powerful in Jonathan: the idea of connection, and how to make that kind of support accessible to anyone, anywhere.
That’s how On With Life Support—O.W.L.S.—was born. A space for people in recovery or facing mental health challenges to build their own "nest" of support, feel seen, and never face healing alone.
Can I customize who gets my SOS alerts?
Yes. You choose who is in your nest and who receives alerts. You can update your nest anytime.
